Why this yatra
Kashi is not visited; it is entered. The tradition calls it Avimukta — the field Shiva never leaves — and for at least three thousand years seekers have come here to study, to die well, and to learn what a city devoted to knowledge looks like. Prayagraj completes the pair: where Kashi is depth, the Sangam is confluence — of Ganga, Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati, and of every stream of pilgrims India has produced. Together they are the finest classroom of living heritage in the world.
In the scriptures
The Kashi Khanda of the Skanda Purana devotes a hundred chapters to this city — its ghats, its lingas, and the promise attached to Manikarnika. The Matsya and Padma Puranas carry the Prayaga Mahatmya, calling the confluence Tirtharaja, the king of tirthas, where the Kumbha gathers humanity's largest peaceful assembly. On this yatra those texts are not background reading; they are read on the very steps they describe.
What you take back
A trained eye for a living city: how a ghat works, how a temple economy sustains scholarship, how the daily Ganga aarti holds a civilization's memory. Guided darshan of Kashi Vishwanath and the Sangam, sessions with local scholars from the Varanasi institutions in our network, and the discipline of walking a sacred geography with its sources open in your hands.
